Chapter 3 dealt with Calvinism.
Now, we see HOW and WHY Calvinism damages the brain...
The Unaware Brain can see the explanation for Calvinism is contradictory. However, when a person CHOOSES to embrace ANY form of Calvinism, the Unaware Brain sees the lengths the conscious brain goes to in order to justify this contradictory belief. The conscious brain is leading the Unaware Brain towards encouraging the individual to believe in things without proof...without thinking.
When the Calvinist continues to attempt to PROVE his point by requiring others to think, then the Unaware Brain has reached a contradictory goal...thinking AND NOT thinking...which causes the Unaware Brain to shut down the individual. The only way for the individual to continue is to intentionally rewire their brain...to not check for contradictions and reward themselves as if they had...we've seen this is possible with the experiment involving Democrats and Republicans.
The other effect is the individual is going to get depressed...which means in order to feel "normal", the individual needs to get emotionally ramped up. This is one of the reasons WHY Calvinists get very emotional even though they believe there is nothing that can be done concerning critical decisions!
Furthermore, the Unaware Brain knows Calvinism is NOT Fellowship with God. The individual is in pride and NOT interested in justifying God. The individual is interested in justifying themselves.
We saw when the conscious brain is forced to created a causal pattern for unknown information, it will lie AND convince itself the events happened and/or make sense. The best example is when Calvinists state EVERYTHING is up to God AND it is NOT God's fault.
Calvinists get very emotional when they can't explain themselves. Which is another proof they are damaging their brain.
Regardless the passion a Calvinist expresses with his explanation, if he cannot explain HOW and WHY God carries out His Will in a non-contradictory manner, he is really stating it is all God's fault...which is justification of self...which is idolatry.
In fact, you won't find Calvinists who can even define THEIR OWN BELIEFS! They focus on stating what they are NOT. They will say they are NOT a "hyper-Calvinist"...but won't say what they are. A Calvinist does NOT have a definition for their system of belief. Going without a definition for the thing you are focused on evangelizing is an even more advanced case of brain damage!
The reality is we have volition...we have the ability to choose. This is the cause.
If a person chooses to believe in volition, then they will exhibit the EFFECTS of "free will"...and these effects will be apparent to all.
If a person CHOOSES NOT to believe in volition, then they will exhibit the EFFECTS of Determinism...and these effects will be apparent to all.
Effects can contradict if they are treated as causes. The Calvinists and Arminianists both claim these effects as causes. This is WHY they contradict each other AND can point to examples of the effects we all witness.
The ultimate goal of Calvinism is to remove the cause of volition...which is not possible. In fact, their attempt to do so PROVES volition is a cause.
However, all Calvinism is really able to do is remove the effects of volition for its supporters and become a stumblingblock for others...
